Located in Danville in the scenic East Bay Area, The Reutlinger Community provides comfortable accommodations and personalized care for up to 180 seniors. Newly renovated to better serve residents, The Reutlinger Community currently offers room and board in specialized Assisted Living, Enhanced Care, Memory Care and Rehabilitation.

We are looking for experienced med-techs ideally those that have already worked in an Assisted Living community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The basic purpose of the Medication Technician position is to provide or assist in the provision of non-injectable medications to residents in accordance with current federal, state, local and corporate standards, regulations, and guidelines.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician and consistent with established guidelines, facility policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations.
  • Take vital signs, including respirations, temperature, blood pressure and pulse as necessary and document according to established procedures.
  • Assist caregivers as appropriate and necessary to ensure resident services are provided in a manner to maintain the highest level of independence possible.
  • Ensure that all residents receive care in a manner and in an environment that maintains or enhances their quality of life without abridging the safety and rights of other residents.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Charge Nurse and/or Assisted Living Director/Administrator, as necessary/required.
  • Chart all reports of accidents/incidents involving residents. Follow established procedures.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the community.
  • Report occupational exposures to
  • blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Charge Nurse.

Qualifications:

Education:
High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred. Proficient ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language.

Training and Experience:
Six (6) months experience in providing personal care in a residential or long term care setting preferred. Valid/current first aid certification.

Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge in performing personal care services in a residential environment. Ability to meet new and/or stressful situations with the appropriate responses. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, to share information freely, to use and seek supervision and consultation verbally and in writing, and be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.

The final candidate must successfully pass The Reutlinger's post offer, pre-employment testing which includes a criminal background check, drug test, COVID test, TB screen test and health screen. All staff, except wait staff and dishwasher positions, must be at least 18 years of age.
